About Us
Fiona Hendry is founder and Musical Director of Cantiamo, and is a graduate of the Northern College of Education, Aberdeen where she studied piano, singing and violin. Fiona's training specialised in piano, and she currently teaches pianoforte at schools within Midlothian. Fiona holds the post of organist at St. John's and King's Park Church in Dalkeith, Midlothian.
At full strength Cantiamo numbers 14 members, however the choir have in the past performed with as few as four members depending on the occasion. The choir is equally comfortable singing with or without piano accompaniment. As well as mixed-voice choral works, the choir performs with soloists from its ranks not only singing, but with violin, piano and guitar too. Additionally, guests appearing with Cantiamo have included everything from organists to an award-winning poet.
A versatile group, Cantiamo is pleased to perform for no fee in order to raise money for worthy causes in the local area and beyond. Additionally, private occasions such as weddings, birthdays and corporate events can also be catered for - please contact us for information.
Cantiamo is also in harmony socially as well as musically, enjoying each other's company at barbeques, meals out and other events throughout the year.
